Supporting Your Digestion This Winter

Now that the clocks have gone back, the nights are getting shorter and illnesses linked to the colder months are creeping back in, which means our guts and digestion can also feel the impact.


The term ‘gut health’ has been a hot topic across social media the past year, with people using different powders and juices to support their bodies and digestion. However, eating in tune with our bodies and digestion has been practised for thousands of years through Ancient Indian and Chinese medicine, to name a few.
Since the pandemic, conversations about supporting our digestion are everywhere. Research suggests that over 70% of our immune cells are in our gut, so what’s going on in our tums is linked to the health of the rest of our bodies. But how do we care for our tummies so we’re functioning at our best? 
We’ve compiled our go-to, simplest methods to make ourselves more resilient from the inside out, so you can incorporate your favourite CBD products to support your digestion too.

  1. Hydration 

We’ll say it once and we’ll say it again and again: water, water, water! 
Keeping our body topped up with plenty of hydration is key to keeping a whole host of issues at bay, but what does ‘plenty’ actually mean? Well, everybody is individual - but the recommendation is between 6 - 8 cups a day. Our bodies are around 60% water, which means staying well hydrated will always bring positive effects, so don’t neglect it!

2. Sleep 


Sleep time = reset time, so we need to get between 7-9 hours of sleep every single night. Sleep is when our bodies repair cells. Getting plenty of sleep means our bodies can release a multitude of hormones that aid in stress reduction, appetite control, muscle and bone development and appetite control.

3. Lower stress 


Our bodies experience stress to tell us that something should be avoided. So being under constant stress affects us in many ways, including our digestion. As we’ve mentioned above, getting enough sleep will aid in stress management. Your brain and your gut go hand in hand, so looking after our mental health is super important. 4. Whole foods 


As Mother Nature intended, something that we’re super passionate about! Eating fibre-rich foods is like putting oil in your car, keeping everything running smoothly. It’s the easiest way to make sure you’re getting your daily dose of vitamins and minerals to replenish your cells, so that you’re fighting fit.

5. Soothing tea


There are a bunch of teas you can drink to support your gut. But there is evidence to suggest that good old hot water has activating properties for your digestion.
